Basic english grammar - articles

First of all, what are articles? Articles are a type of words that comes before nouns to express if they are definite or indefinite nouns. English has only two articles: the and a/an

The article the is used when we want to express that the noun is a specific noun. For exemple: my daughter wants the hat. I'm saying that my daughter wants a particular hat, not just any hat. Another exemple: let's go to the shop. I'm specifying a particular shop that we want to go.

For the indefinite articles, we use a when the word right after starts with a consonant and an when it starts with a vowel or silent 'h' . For exemple: i want a book to read. I'm not asking for a specific book, any book would will do. My friend Lucas wants an apple.
